Semantico to partner with Columbia University
Semantico, supplier of digital publishing solutions to the scholarly and professional market, has announced a partnership with Columbia University Press (CUP) and the Columbia University Libraries/Information Services (CUL/IS).
The project involves Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO), an electronic database and website of aggregated content in the field of international affairs. As part of the CIAO solution Semantico will provide SAMS, the industry leading access management and authentication system.
CIAO aggregates content including working papers, journal articles and abstracts, e-books, policy briefs, case studies, and videos from a variety of sources. The site has a 15-year history of being an online resource in this field and has amassed more than 44,000 content objects. Users of CIAO come from all levels of academic institutions (undergraduates, graduate students, researchers, and faculty), from NGOs and government agencies, and – to a lesser extent – from private sector corporations and news agencies.
'We are extremely pleased to be working with Semantico and look forward to the successful delivery of the CIAO project,' said Stephen Sterns, managing editor for reference and electronic publishing at Columbia University Press.
'Columbia University Press is another prestigious stateside win for Semantico, and further cements our status as a digital publishing partner of choice for high profile scholarly publishers and presses worldwide,' added Tracy Capaldi-Drewett, senior vice president for sales and marketing at Semantico.
