Sage has been recognised by LGBTQ+ rights charity Stonewall as one of the UK’s most LGBTQ+ inclusive employers in the charity’s annual Workplace Equality Index. Sage placed 23rd out of 246 companies who entered a submission, achieving a Gold Award and ranking among Stonewall’s Top 100 Employers for 2024.

This award recognises the actions Sage has taken towards building a working environment that supports and empowers LGBTQ+ colleagues and customers. Some of the initiatives commended by Stonewall include:

  • An active LGBTIAQ+ Employee Resource Group, with dedicated resources and an executive sponsor;
  • Inclusivity training for leadership, including inclusive (reverse) mentoring;
  • Allyship training for all new employees;
  • Robust and inclusive policies around Discrimination and Harassment, Family Leave and Transitioning at Work;
  • A wide range of events and campaigns that promote inclusion with an intersectional lens; and
  • Inclusive facilities in Sage offices.

"We are pleased to be recognised with this award which is testament to the hard work of several colleagues at all levels of the business, and in particular the dedication of the members and co-leads of our LGBTIAQ+ Employee Resource Group," said Kiren Shoman, EVP, editorial and global executive lead, DEI at Sage. "Whilst we celebrate this award, it does not make us complacent about the work that is yet to be done. We continue to listen and respond to feedback from our colleagues and will be taking further action to continue cultivating a diverse workforce and empowering people across our organisation. This includes building on our work to support our LGBTQ+ colleagues as well as those belonging to other marginalized groups and those with intersecting identities."

Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index is a voluntary benchmarking tool for UK employers to measure their progress in LGBTQ+ inclusion across nine categories including Policies and Benefits, Network Groups, Leadership, and a Staff Feedback Questionnaire. Stonewall is a UK-based charity and as such the Workplace Equality Index focuses primarily on Sage’s UK workforce, though many of the policies and practices referenced in the submission apply across Sage’s global business.
