European libraries drive digital repositories forward
The European Association of Research Libraries, LIBER, has joined forces with the European Digital Repository Research Infrastructure, DRIVER, to enhance the output of European research through so-called digital repositories.
Digital repositories provide access to texts, data or other types of scientific and scholarly content. The new collaboration asserts research libraries should contribute towards a common, pan-European data and service infrastructure based on such repositories that would help to make research information more widely available.
Having each signed a Memorandum of Understanding, the parties will also consider future developments in subject-based or disciplinary repositories. Collaborations with relevant organisations will also be pursued.
