CrossRef appoints new director Jennifer Lin
Crossref, the not-for-profit organisation that runs the metadata engine for scholarly content, has announced the addition of Jennifer Lin to its management team in the newly-created position of director of product management.
Lin will be responsible for overseeing all stages of product development, maintaining the existing portfolio of services, and keeping her finger on the pulse of developments in scholarly communications.
Executive director, Ed Pentz, said: 'Jennifer has been involved in a number of scholarly publishing initiatives, such as the DOI Event Tracking project, impressing with her knowledge of the industry and her ability to drive projects forward. Her addition to the team will enable us to solidify Crossref's current offerings, develop new services through a well-defined product development process, and contribute to further improvements for the scholarly communications community.'
Lin added: 'Crossref has been a stalwart and foundational part of scholarly communications since 2000. I'm thrilled to continue building on its tradition of professionalism and technological innovation with this incredible team. This is an exciting time of emerging tools and solutions that address longstanding barriers to research dissemination. I see great advances for the entire research enterprise in the near future through the cooperative engagement of Crossref partners.'
Lin has 15 years' experience in product development, project management, community outreach, and change management within the scholarly communications, education, and public sectors.
She joins Crossref after four years at the Public Library of Science (PLOS) where she oversaw product strategy and development for their data program, article-level metrics initiative, and open assessment activities.
